Meet the Professor

In addition to his legal practice, Daniel works as a Professor of Business Law at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC) at the Nadel School of Business and Entrepreneurship, as well as an adjunct professor at California State University, Los Angeles in the Department of Television, Film and Media Studies (TVFM, College of Arts and Letters).

Coursework

At SBCC, Daniel teaches Business Law (BLAW 101), Legal Environment of Business (BLAW 110), Introduction to Business (BUS101) and The Business of Entertainment (BUS240).

Daniel has also created an original course for CSULA in Entertainment Financing and Law (FIN-4820), a hybrid graduate and undergraduate course which encompasses the life cycle of a television, motion picture and new media entertainment product. The course focuses on the areas of development, casting, financing, budgeting, distribution and exhibition. 

In addition, Daniel teaches a survey-level course in Media Law (TVF 4200), which focuses on the core concepts of the 1st Amendment, Copyright, Defamation and the Right to Privacy, the MPAA/FCC and Contracts. Daniel has also previously taught Legal Environment of Business (FIN-2050) at CSULA.

Publications:

Daniel’s research interests include new media, sports gambling, music, real estate and taxation.
